An 18.000 EUR present for children with cancercer
A German businessman chose to “donate his birthday” in order to help with the renovation of the Oncology department of the Children’s Hospital in Brasov. A birthday worth 18.000 euros, that you’ll be able to “see” in one of the wards of the department. The money went to the Daruieste Viata Association, which is undergoing a project worth 350.000 euros, meant to renovate and recompartmentalize the department where children with cancer and other serious diseases are being treated.
At the beginning of March, the white porcelain tiles that were the brand of old hospitals became nothing more than a memory. Soon enough, the wards, the mess hall and the doctors’ offices will be fit for a story tale, while maintaining hygiene and preventing infections will be easier than ever.
For now, here's what we're dreaming of:
“*Last December, we got a call letting us know that the German shareholder of a company in Brasov was donating his birthday to the project we’re doing at a local children’s hospital. Instead of getting him presents, his friends would deposit money into an account, and the sum would be donated to the association. It seemed unbelievable and, anyway, we were expecting only a few hundred euros… we got 18.000. The donor wanted to stay anonymous, but we hope to have the privilege of meeting him some day*”, said **Oana Gheorghiu**, Vice-President of the Give Life association.
